Hospitals work to treat victims after Florida mass shooting Sunday

A 24-year-old man from Baltimore opened fire in an open-air marketplace in Jacksonville, Fla., during a video game tournament Aug. 26, killing two people and injuring at least nine others before fatally shooting himself, according to CNN.

Here are six things to know about the incident:

1. David Katz arrived in Jacksonville to attend a "Madden NFL 19" tournament at GLHF Game Bar in Jacksonville Landing. ABC 7 reports first responders arrived at the bar just after 1:30 p.m., with police arriving shortly after. A witness told First Coast News the shooting began after an argument over the tournament. However, ABC 7 was unable to independently verify the claim.

2. Police have not released the names of the two individuals killed during the incident. However, witness statements and members of the gaming community identified the individuals as Elijah Clayton, 22, and Taylor Robertson, 27.

3. Memorial Hospital Jacksonville released the names of four victims treated at the facility after the incident. All four individuals suffered minor injuries and have either been released or are in good condition as of Aug. 27, according to CNN.

4. UF Health Jacksonville said in an Aug. 26 statement that it received six patients following the incident. As of 9:30 a.m. Aug. 27, two patients — one in serious condition and one in good condition — remained at the facility. The other four patients have been discharged.

5. Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville also treated one individual who was injured fleeing the scene, First Coast News reports.

6. Police said the incident is still under investigation. Florida has seen several mass casualty shootings during the past three years. In 2016, 49 people were killed during a shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando. A gunman also killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland in February.
