The emergency helicopter service is called AirLife Ambulance Service. It has a full emergency transport team.
The air ambulance service will have a range of about 120 miles to assist with emergency calls and transferring patients to different hospitals.
The service launched Jan. 24 at Houston-based Woman’s Hospital of Texas, where one helicopter will be based.
A second helicopter based at the system’s hospital in Conroe, Texas, will be added to the program this spring.
HCA Houston Healthcare has 13 area hospitals, 12 of which have helipads.
