The “Rooted in Change: Understanding the Cultural Differences of Hair Care” program will provide high-quality hair care items to patients with textured hair, the system said in a Nov. 22 LinkedIn post. The program was started by Whitney Huddleston, RN, director of perioperative and procedural services at the system, and is funded by a STAR grant with supplies provided by a local salon.

“We want to make sure that everyone who walks through our doors feels respected and cared for—down to the smallest detail,” Ms. Huddleston said in the post.

The program has launched for patients undergoing dialysis in the preoperative and postoperative units of Cambridge Tower A and is expected to expand to other units.
