The recipients, which include two health systems and five healthcare leaders, were recognized for their leadership in patient and employee experience, nursing and safety.
CEO of the Year Award:
Jaewon Ryu, MD, CEO of Washington, D.C.-based Risant Health, received this award for his efforts to implement a proactive, value-based care model and integrate Kaiser Permanente’s care approach within local delivery systems.
Physician of the Year Award:
Robert Cherry, MD, chief medical and quality officer of UCLA Health and interim chief clinical officer and chief quality officer of UC Health in Los Angeles, was recognized for his leadership in elevating patient care, safety, and equity through systemwide quality improvement efforts.
CXO of the Year Award:
Sunni Barnes, PhD, vice president of patient experience and survey/quality operations at Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health, received this award for helping the 51-hospital system achieve consistent, year-over-year improvement in patient experience metrics.
Health System of the Year Award:
Falls Church, Va.-based Inova received this award for its innovative strategies in capturing, analyzing and acting upon patient feedback, leading to significant improvements in outcomes, experience and healthcare accessibility.
HRO Foundation Award:
Rockville Centre, N.Y.-based Catholic Health was recognized for its significant improvements in patient safety. These improvements were driven by a comprehensive set of safety initiatives as part of its high-reliability journey, resulting in a sustained reduction in serious safety event reports.
Nurse Leader of the Year Award:
Michelle Feil, MSN, RN, family centered care program manager at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania–Penn Medicine in Philadelphia, was recognized for her leadership in patient and family-centered care and increasing volunteer engagement.
Frontline Nurse of the Year Award:
Ron Mehaffy Jr., RN, a bone marrow transplant and intensive care unit nurse at Baylor Scott & White T. Boone Pickens Cancer Hospital in Dallas, received this award for his ability to make patients feel valued and involved in care decisions.
