President and COO Robert Haffey, MSN, RN, launched the initiative last fall, just a few months after stepping into his position at the hospital.
The initiative encourages staff members to achieve personal connections with patients through simple actions like reviewing care plans with them or sending them a thank-you card in the mail once they’re discharged from the hospital.
Kent Hospital is piloting the program in a 10-bed unit housing orthopedic patients recovering from hip or knee replacements. The hospital aims to expand the initiative facilitywide by May 2020.
