A medical transport team at Orlando, Fla.-based Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children took the teenager, Evan Rasmussen, to his graduation ceremony via ambulance, the health system confirmed May 17.
“When a child has a chronic illness, they often spend a lot of time in and out of the hospital, often missing out on important life experiences,” Jodi McDuffie, MSN, RN, nurse manager at the hospital’s PICU, told Fox 35 Orlando. “It was really special for our team to be part of Evan’s big day. He couldn’t stop smiling during the whole trip!”
