To determine patients’ experience and views of recording encounters with a health professional, the researchers administered a cross-sectional survey online. Out of 130 survey respondents, 128 answered questions regarding their experience and views on these covert recordings.
Here are three survey findings.
1. The survey found 15 percent of respondents covertly recorded a medical encounter, with an additional 11 percent of respondents indicating they know of someone who had.
2. Thirty-five percent of respondents said they would consider recording a medical visit with a health professional, and a further 34 percent indicated a willingness to record only requesting permission from the clinician.
3. Most (77 percent) respondents said they would like their clinic to allow them to record medical encounters.
