Vermont hospital introduces joint injection in office setting — 3 takeaways

A joint injection previously limited to Bennington-based Southwestern Vermont Medical Center's hospital patients is now available in an office setting, Vermont Business Magazine reports.

Three takeaways:

1. Sports medicine specialist Ivette Guttmann, MD, began administering ultrasound-guided intra articular joint injections at SVMC Orthopedics in Bennington.

2. The procedure is intended to relieve joint pain in the shoulders, hips and knees for several months.

3. It can take up to 30 minutes to complete the injection.
