University of Tennessee Medical Center was awarded The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for demonstrating commitment to quality, safety and effective care in knee and hip replacement. In recognition of UTMC’s high-quality care, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement selected UTMC as a Project Joints Exemplar Hospital to spread evidence-based best practices to prevent surgical site infections after hip and knee replacement. The American Nurses Credentialing Center designated UTMC as a Magnet hospital for excellence in surgical care, and Blue Cross Blue Shield named it a Blue Distinction Center+ for Knee and Hip Replacement.
