Previous owners stopped construction on the current structure in May 2009, and Mercy acquired the campus in February 2011. Mercy is replacing the existing structure with a 24-bed orthopedic hospital that will provide adult joint replacement surgery, including pre-surgical consultation and post-surgical rehab.
The two-year project is part of Mercy’s $192 million community master plan, which aims to recruit and retain physicians, build infrastructure and upgrade technology over the next seven years, according to the release.
