Three details:
1. The robot provides sharper 3D visualization, expanded range of motion and improved operative reach.
2. It will enable surgeons at Putnam Hospital Center to perform a wider range of procedures, including bariatric and thoracic surgeries.
3. The Carmel, N.Y., hospital introduced an earlier model of the robotic surgical system in 2012. Eight surgeons have used the earlier model to perform 1,600-plus general, urologic, colorectal and gynecologic surgeries.
