New Mexico hospital goes for the gold — and gets it

Rehabilitation Hospital of Southern New Mexico received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Spinal Cord Injury Certification, according to the Las Cruces Sun News, part of the USA Today network.

Three quick points:

1. No other hospital in the region has gained the certification, a hospital representative told the Las Cruces Sun News.

2. The Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with certification standards and conducted observations and interviews during an unannounced on-site review on July 25.

3. Sabrina Martin serves as CEO of the Las Cruces-based hospital. “Spinal cord injury survivors require highly specialized care and our team dedicated themselves to earning this certification to help these survivors, in our region,” she said.
