DePuy Orthopaedics Launches New Metal Head For Hip

DePuy Orthopaedics announced the release of its aSphere M-Spec Femoral Head, a new metal hip bearing option that can potentially reduce cumulative wear by 80 percent and associated ion release by 77 percent, according to a DePuy news release.

The aSphere head, designed to be used with DePuy’s TrueGlide system, facilitates a more fluid range of natural motion, according to the news release. The aSphere head was cleared by the FDA in Dec. 2008.
