Christiana Care Health System (Newark, Del.).Orthopedic physicians at Christiana Care’s Center for Advanced Joint Replacement, which opened in 2000, perform more than 2,900 total hip and knee replacements per year. The health system maintains two programs for orthopedic patients that are run by its musculoskeletal service line: The Strong Bones program serves as a resource for physicians and patients to detect and treat bone fragility, and the Safe Steps program is a multidisciplinary care program in which healthcare providers teach patients to prevent falls. The department’s 70-plus physicians also provide orthopedic trauma care to patients in Newark-based Christiana Hospital’s Level I trauma center, the only Level I-designated facility in Delaware. CareChex ranked Christiana Care Health System the No. 3 hospital in the nation for orthopedic surgery in 2018.
