AAOS census: 5 most common orthopedist specialty areas

According to the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ 2012 Orthopaedic Surgeon Census, here are the most common specialty areas for orthopedists:

•    Arthroscopy — 38 percent
•    Adult knee — 37 percent
•    Sports medicine — 36 percent
•    Adult hip — 28 percent
•    Total joint — 17 percent

There were 27,773 total orthopedic surgeons on record with the AAOS at the time of the census.
