WVU Medicine Fairmont (W.Va.) Medical Center completed its more than $27 million surgical services unit.
The new unit, set to open Oct. 19, includes four new operating rooms and a new sterile processing suite, according to a Sept. 22 system news release. Its opening also marks the return of surgical services at the center, Aaron Yanuzo, COO of the hospital, said in the release. The new unit will expand surgical services in cardiology, endoscopy, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, otolaryngology, pain management, podiatry, urology, and plastic and reconstructive surgery.
The project is part of a larger commitment to expand care at the center, and follows the addition of a skilled nursing unit, expanded imaging services and the center’s cancer institute. Next, the center is planning a new three-story support services and ambulatory clinic building.
