The proposed $4.8 million project would renovate existing ORs previously used at Community Hospital. The ORs would be used for orthopedics, general surgery, plastic surgery, pediatric orthopedics, pain management, ear nose and throat surgeries and gynecologic surgeries. One OR would be dedicated to dental surgeries.

Carilion has cited an increased demand in surgeries, particularly orthopedic surgeries, and an increase in longer surgeries in its need for additional ORs.
