Top 5 cancer hospitals for pain care plans: CMS

Five cancer hospitals received a perfect score from CMS for moderate-to-severe pain care plans.

CMS collected data from 11 prospective payment system-exempt cancer hospitals to create a quality report. The report measured plans for care for moderate-to-severe pain in medical and radiation oncology and assigned scores on a 100-point scale.

Of the 11 hospitals, five were given perfect scores, two were given scores of 99, three were given scores ranging from 92 to 96, and one hospital received the lowest score of 71.

Here are the hospitals that received perfect scores:

  • City of Hope-Helford Clinical Research Hospital (Duarte, Calif.)

  • University of Miami Hospital and Clinics-Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center

  • H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute (Tampa, Fla.)

  • Memorial Hospital for Cancer and Allied Diseases (New York City)

  • University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston)
