The eight-bed unit will provide bone marrow and stem cell transplants to children in a facility dedicated to pediatric patients. Previously, these transplants were provided in the adult transplant unit at Florida Hospital.

The unit is named for the non-profit organization Kids Beating Cancer, which gave $1 million to the hospital last year to help cover these pediatric patients’ medical costs, according to the report.
