Wolters Kluwer debuts mobile app drug guide for nurses

Philadelphia-based Wolters Kluwer Health and Unbound Medicine have released a mobile app designed to aid hospital nurses with accessible information on the top-selling drugs, including up-to-date drug information from the FDA, according to a July 27 news release.

Now at their fingertips, nurses can have access to information on more than 3,800 generic, brand and combination drugs along with images of around 400 of the most-prescribed pills and tablets with drug monographs instantly.

"With 12-hour shifts the norm, and barely any time at an actual workstation or desk, nurses want to spend their time caring for patients and understanding their whole health — whether that is through interactions with the patient, their family members or care team colleagues," Julie Stegman, vice president and segment leader of health learning and practice at Wolters Kluwer Health, said in a statement. "This mobile app gives nurses anytime/anywhere access to the latest drug information, so they can focus on patient care and reduce the chance of medication errors."

The app also features critical drug information, alerts, patient safety reminders and tips, guides, and an "Anatomy of a Drug Monograph."

New nurse users can download the app to a mobile device for a free trial, according to the release.
