RWJBarnabas Health unveils The Institute for Nursing Excellence

West Orange, N.J.-based RWJBarnabas Health is aiming to standardize nurse education and professional development across the system via a new institute.

The Institute for Nursing Excellence, which officially opened last month, comprises two state-of-the-art facilities in Livingston and Oceanport, N.J. The facilities include classrooms and high-tech simulation labs where nurses of all levels can participate in hands-on training, active simulations and specialty courses, among other educational opportunities. RWJBarnabas Health will host regional orientation programs for new nurses at the facilities, as well.

The institute will also be responsible for ensuring nursing practices match the latest industry best practices.

"RWJBarnabas Health is helping shape the future of patient care in New Jersey and beyond, and helping nurses stay at the top of their game doesn't just benefit patients, it helps nurses too," Nancy Holocek, MAS, MHA, BSN, RN, executive vice president and chief nursing officer of RWJBarnabas Health, said in an April 3 news release. "When we give nurses opportunities to gain knowledge, build skills, add credentials, align practices, and share evidence and innovations, it lets them know that RWJBarnabas Health is invested in and believes in them."
