6 systems launching, expanding nursing programs

Here are six organizations opening or expanding nursing programs:

  1. Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger College of Health Sciences received a $2.5 million state Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant to renovate its School of Nursing in Lewistown, Pa., and enroll twice as many students.
  1. Richmond, Va.-based Galen College of Nursing is opening a second campus in Roanoke, Va., in 2023, a move aimed at helping to grow the state’s nursing workforce. 
  1. State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota received $1.1 million from local hospitals, and the same from state funds, to increase its nursing program enrollment from 120 to 320 students.
  2. Jacksonville-based Baptist Health of Northeast Florida has launched Baptist Health Clinical School, which offers a 15-week certified nursing assistant preparation course.
  3. Austin (Texas) Community College is launching an online bachelor’s in nursing program.
  4. Jacksonville (Fla.) University and Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic are partnering to expand a 12-month second-degree BSN program.
