20 jobs for nurses — with annual salary estimates — that don't involve bedside care

Whether you've been a bedside nurse for decades or you are new to the profession, there are ways you can use your skills and nursing license that don't involve direct patient care.

Many recently released reports, including an April 2023 study conducted by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, suggest the nursing shortage will reach crisis levels before the end of the decade.

Here are 20 non-bedside jobs for licensed nurses and salary estimates, aggregated by nurse.org June 9, from a variety of sources including Glassdoor, Payscale, ZipRecruiter and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. They are purported to be current — spring 2023 — estimates. Exact salaries vary by location.
