In a study of more than 24,000 patients between 2000 and 2011, a total of 10 percent were readmitted within 90 days.

Broken down by surgery type, 10 percent of patients undergoing retropubic radical prostatectomy were readmitted, nine percent of robotic-assisted laparoscopy patients were readmitted and 11 percent of laparoscopic radical prostatectomy were readmitted.

The data suggests there is no statistically significant difference in readmission outcomes for these three radical prostatectomy surgical techniques.
