The hospital was put on lockdown following reports of an active shooter on facility property. CPD officers and an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper responded to reports of a man with a gun in a car near the emergency department.
Upon the authorities’ arrival, the man exited the vehicle and fired a shot, not directed at the officers. He then got back into the car. When officers approached him, the man again exited his car and pointed a gun at the officers. The trooper shot at the man, though it is undetermined if the trooper struck him. The man then got back into the vehicle and fired another shot, fatally wounding himself, Tulsa World reported.
The hospital’s doors were closed Thursday while authorities assessed the situation. All units were open and in operation Thursday night. The scene is still being investigated.
