Police were summoned to Logan Regional Medical Center after hospital staff reported a gun shot which occurred inside the building at 10 a.m. Police said the 35-year old individual involved in the incident was not employed by the hospital and was not a patient at the facility, according to the report.
A spokesperson for the medical center sent Becker’s Hospital Review the following statement: “The safety of our patients and staff is top priority. Following an incident in our emergency room this morning, Logan Regional Medical Center is open and has resumed normal operations. All appointments and activities planned for today will occur, as scheduled, and we do not anticipate any interruptions in service.”
A spokesperson also told Becker’s all further investigations into the incident will be handled by state police.
