Ms. Copeland is lauded for her mandate that all grants from the bank be “transformational.” For instance, under her direction, KeyBank Foundation funded grants to the Cleveland Clinic medical school to provide full-ride scholarships to students of color who plan to address health disparities in underserved communities.
“We have great emphasis and focus on education,” Ms. Copeland said. “‘Transformational’ means that [students] will have everything that they need to graduate.”
The KeyBank Foundation awarded $11 million in grants in 2013, primarily for education and workforce development.
