Kona Community Hospital in Hawaii Plans Replacement Hospital

Kona Community Hospital in Kealakekua, Hawaii, part of Honolulu-based Hawaii Health Systems Corp., is planning a replacement hospital that could cost up to $200 million, according to a Honolulu Star-Advertiser report published on equities.com.

The new hospital could double the current facility's 94-bed capacity to 200 beds, according to the report. The existing hospital would be converted to a long-term care facility.

The new hospital may be built in Kailua-Kona, where the population is expanding, to provide more convenient access for patients, according to the report.

The facility could be built within the next five to 10 years.
