IntelliCentrics Focuses on Bloodborne Pathogen Safety

More than 5 million healthcare workers are at risk of exposure to a bloodborne pathogen, according to an Occupational Safety and Health Administration figure quoted in an IntelliCentrics blog post.

According to the post, performing the same task over and over can cause healthcare professionals to become careless or absent-minded. Not performing routine duties with care is one of the main ways healthcare workers are exposed to bloodborne pathogens, according to the post.

To prevent exposure, healthcare workers should always be alert while on the job, and wear all necessary protective clothing as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, according to the post.

Reptrax University, an online learning system, is offering an educational course on how to prevent the spread of bloodborne pathogens. Once completed, the course can be re-taken as many times as necessary to refresh the knowledge.
