Cheboygan Memorial Reopens as McLaren Northern Michigan

The former Cheboygan Memorial Hospital reopened its emergency room yesterday under the name McLaren Northern Michigan, Cheboygan Campus, following a six-week closure, according to a report by The Republic.
McLaren will operate emergency and diagnostic services at the facility, which will no longer provide inpatient care. Approximately 150 of the hospital's 400 employees will be employed by the reopened facility, according to the report.

The Flint, Mich.-based health system had planned to acquire the hospital before it was forced to close, but the deal was halted over CMS licensing and regulations issues. McLaren acquired the facility on May 2, after it reached an administrative understanding with CMS and the U.S. bankruptcy court.
