Police issued a search for Katinca Hunter Tuesday and she was arrested at a medical office Thursday evening. Ms. Hunter had been posing as Catherine J. Hunter, MD, a pediatric surgeon at Chicago-based Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
The real Dr. Hunter told KSAT her imposter appeared to have prescribed benign drugs, though they could have complications. “It does appear that she was preying on patients with end stage cancer diagnoses, a particularly vulnerable population,” Dr. Hunter said, according to the report.
