Chairman of the Subcommittee Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) argued the bill is “fiscally responsible” because it is in line with the $1.2 trillion budget cuts from last August, according to a Hill report.
All Republican senators on the subcommittee voted against the bill, mainly because it funds the PPACA.
“The majority of Americans do not want the ACA because they know it will lead to higher taxes and lower quality of care,” Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala) said in the report.
