VA Hospital accused of neglecting unclaimed veteran’s bodies for weeks

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is looking into a complaint alleging the bodies of numerous unclaimed veterans were left inside a morgue for weeks at a time at the Edward Hines (Ill.) Veterans Administration Hospital, according to CBS2 Chicago.

Internal emails obtained by CBS2 Chicago revealed that the bodies of at least two veterans were left inside a morgue for nearly 30 days this summer, according to the article.

VA officials said the department is investigating the allegations made by the whistleblower but has yet to find any substantial evidence verifying those claims, according to the article.
