According to a lawsuit filed by UPMC last week, the medical center would not have purchased the hospital in 2013 if the law firm assessing the hospital’s finances had informed UPMC officials of the hospital’s full liability.

The lawsuit cites the liability as $123 million more than what was stated in the financial documents.

The medical center is seeking $142 million in damages from the law firm and affiliated actuary, plus punitive damages, according to the report.

Representatives from the law firm denied any truth in the allegations and said it plans to fight the allegations, according to the article.
