Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Judge R. Stanton Wettick rescheduled the hearing, which was originally set for Tuesday. The city had requested the delay.
In its recent court filings, UPMC claimed the city must redirect its challenge to the health system’s 44 subsidiaries — not the corporate umbrella entity, which UPMC claims employs zero people.
City lawyers have contended UPMC, the parent, controls those subsidiaries, which makes it liable for payroll taxes.
