The payer sued in October 2021, alleging that TeamHealth deliberately upcoded emergency room claims to deceive UnitedHealthcare into overpaying for ED services and “reap windfall profits.”
UnitedHealthcare estimates that it has overpaid $100 million on claims submitted by TeamHealth since 2016.
