According to authorities, a red and brown truck drove through the parking lot near the maternity entrance and backed up near the loading dock on Aug. 17. Two men got out of the truck and loaded a 300-pound aluminum coil into the vehicle and drove away. Later that same day, the same truck returned, and a man and a woman got out of the truck and loaded a second coil into the bed of the truck.
The aluminum coils were outside the hospital by a loading dock that had been sectioned off with red tape. The hospital was planning to scrap the metal from the coils. Each one was valued at $800.
Both thefts were caught on camera, and authorities have the license plate number of the truck. As of Aug. 21, neither the truck, nor the thieves had been found.
