Texas hospital fields more than 200 tip line calls after nurse charged with murder

Since a former nurse at Tyler, Texas-based Louis and Peaches Owen Heart Hospital and Christus Mother Frances Hospital-Tyler was arrested April 10 and charged with murder in a patient’s death, a hospital tip line created during the investigation has received over 200 calls, according to the Tyler Morning Telegraph.

Christus Mother Frances Hospital created the tip line after the former nurse, William George Davis, was arrested and charged in the August 2017 death of a 47-year-old patient. The patient had been recovering from a heart procedure at the hospital.

In incidents dating to June 2017, Mr. Davis also is suspected of harming at least six other patients, including a patient who died, according to an arrest affidavit in the case cited by the Telegraph.

The phone number has fielded more than 200 calls since its launch, hospital officials told the Telegraph. Officials did not disclose details about the calls, citing the ongoing investigation.

After Mr. Davis’ arrest, several Texas law firms said they would pursue legal action related to the case.

Mr. Davis had worked for Christus Mother Frances Hospital for five years before being terminated Feb. 15, about a week after hospital officials voiced their concerns to police.

Mr. Davis has been jailed on a $2 million bond since his arrest.
