Saint Vincent is one of six health plans that participate in the Uniformed Services Family Health Plan program, according to a Feb. 14 Justice Department news release. The department filed a lawsuit last year alleging that in 2012, the six plans learned of calculation errors that had inflated the rates they had been paid in previous years. The plans allegedly took steps to conceal the existence of the overpayments from the government and continued to submit invoices at the inflated rate.
The following year, some of the plans allegedly asked to continue receiving payments at the inflated rates despite knowing about the calculation errors.
The claims resolved by the settlement are allegations only, and there has been no determination of liability, according to the release.
