The nine patients were among 32 Emory orthopedic clinic patients whose hospital bills were stolen in April. The woman who stole the documents, Annette Ford, has since pleaded guilty for conspiracy and identity fraud. While Ms. Ford had no affiliation with Emory hospitals, investigators are looking into her connection to a former Emory employee who may have printed the bills of more than 3,000 patients, according to the report.
Emory notified 7,300 patients of the data breach last month.
