Mr. Ryan said President Barack Obama has “funneled” $716 billion out of Medicare “all to pay for a new entitlement we didn’t even ask for,” according to the report. “The greatest threat to Medicare is Obamacare, and we’re going to stop it.”
Mr. Ryan continued: “Obamacare, as much as anything else, explains why a presidency that began with such anticipation now comes to such a disappointing close.”
Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) told Politico that Mr. Ryan’s accusation of President Obama funneling $716 billion from Medicare doesn’t hold much weight, as it “bought Medicare eight more years of solvency.”
