Patient accused of sexually assaulting nurse at Pittsburgh hospital

A patient at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh was charged with aggravated assault and indecent assault after allegedly attacking a nurse Feb. 3, according to WPXI.

The nurse, whose name has not been released, told police the patient, Gary Lee Day, "grabbed her, threw her on the bed, ripped her bra completely off her body, got on top of her, dug his nails into her back." UPMC police said there were visible scratches on the nurse's body when they interviewed her in the emergency room after the alleged attack, according to the report.

UPMC officials told WPXI they could not comment on whether Mr. Day is still hospitalized at UPMC Mercy Hospital due to patient confidentiality laws.
