The attorneys representing the foundation successfully argued the merger between Bert Fish and Florida Hospital violated the Sunshine law and should be voided. A judge overturned the $80 million merger in February.
Southeast Volusia’s board will vote to approve the settlement later this month.
In separate legal proceedings, the Southeast Volusia Hospital District is suing its former attorney who allegedly did not advise the district to make its meetings public for $22.5 million as part of a legal malpractice claim.
