Sandra White formerly worked at Allina’s United Hospital in St. Paul, Minn., as a trauma program coordinator. The lawsuit claims Ms. White was fired in 2012 as retaliation for previously reporting alleged violations of state regulations for Level III trauma designation.
Ms. White reported the alleged shortcomings to hospital management and state officials, and the lawsuit claims United’s trauma program “violated recognized standards of care that placed the public at risk of harm,” according to the report.
Ms. White’s suit seeks more than $50,000 in damages.
Allina has said United Hospital is “proud of its Level III trauma designation,” according to the report. The system also said it absolutely denies the allegations and “will vigorously oppose the lawsuit.”
