New York Hospital Group Opposes State Plan to Cut $1B in Healthcare Funds

The Healthcare Association of New York State opposes New York Gov. David Paterson’s proposal to cut $1 billion from healthcare spending in fiscal year 2011, according to a release from HANYS.

HANYS said Medicaid and other cuts would have the effect of forcing hospitals to seek higher payments from private payors and continue service reductions and job layoffs, which have been under way due to previous state cuts in the past two years.
