New Jersey pharmacy worker pleads guilty to $2.4M kickback scheme

A pharmacy worker in New Jersey pleaded guilty to conspiracy to violate the federal anti-kickback statute through a two-year, $2.4 million bribery scheme.

Srinivasa Raju, 51, worked with other pharmacy workers to pay bribes to two physician’s offices in Jersey City, N.J., to direct high-value prescriptions to his pharmacy from January 2019 to February 2021, according to a Dec. 22 Justice Department news release. 

Mr. Raju faces up to a fine of $250,000 and five years in prison or twice the gross gain or loss derived from the offense, whichever is greater.
