Always Medical Supply owner Ariel Paez, 56, billed Medicare for durable medical equipment that was never provided to beneficiaries, according to an Aug. 4 U.S. Justice Department news release.
The company submitted the fraudulent claims to Medicare between November 2021 and May 2022, according to the release. Medicare paid out more than $1.4 million of those claims.
Mr. Paez is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 5 and faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.
