Man took 29 trips to Georgia hospital under fake names to get drugs, police say

Dustin James Funk has been arrested for going into Canton, Ga.-based Northside Cherokee Hospital using fake aliases to obtain pain medication 29 times since July 2017, according to an 11 Alive report.

Mr. Funk, 33, allegedly took trips to the hospital's emergency room with the goal of scamming the hospital to obtain drugs such as hydrocodone, oxycodone and tramadol.

He was first caught using a fake name May 18, police said. An investigation by the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad discovered that he regularly made trips to the hospital.

Mr. Funk is being held in Bartow County Jail. He faces 79 felony charges.
