Alexander Bradley filed the lawsuit Tuesday in federal court in Connecticut. He is seeking to recover damages after CNN included images of him in the hospital in its documentary “CNN Special Report: Downward Spiral Inside the Case Against Aaron Hernandez,” which aired in April 2015, according to the report.
Here are six things to know about Mr. Bradley’s lawsuit.
1. According to his lawsuit, Mr. Bradley said he never authorized St. Mary’s Hospital in West Palm Beach, Fla., where he received treatment in 2013 for a gunshot wound, or CNN to photograph him while he was in the hospital, according to the report.
2. Mr. Bradley is shown in two segments of the documentary lying “unconscious, bloodied, bandaged and intubated,” the lawsuit says. He is seeking compensation in excess of $100,000, according to the court filing, The Boston Globe reported.
3. Mr. Bradley called the video recording of him an invasion of privacy and said it has caused him severe emotional distress, including “anger, confusion, frustration, shock, sleeplessness, depression, stress and anxiety,” according to The Boston Globe.
4. CNN did not respond to the Hartford Courant or The Boston Globe for a comment.
5. Mr. Hernandez settled a civil lawsuit in February that Mr. Bradley filed in Florida. Mr. Bradley had been seeking damages for the injuries he sustained following the shooting after he and Mr. Hernandez, once friends, left a Florida strip club, according to the Hartford Courant.
6. Mr. Hernandez is serving a life sentence for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd. He is currently facing additional murder charges in a Boston shooting.
