According to the report, the lawsuits allege that physicians misrepresented the severity of the patients’ heart conditions in order to perform procedures that would get payments from federal healthcare programs.
The medical center “intends to defend the care provided by our cardiac program, of which we are very proud, and which has been recognized for its patient care and quality outcomes.” said Tom Dearing, a spokesman for King’s Daughters Medical Center, in a statement.
